Game Change...Because I'm Not Watching The Grammys

Last day of hibernation. I'm all about the politics and finally got to watch Mistress Julianne as Sarah Palin in Game Change. I'll say first that I was never pro-Palin, but I'm always interested in the minds of those who think the way she does.

You notice right away that J-Moore's transformation is frightening. She is Palin without going bananas. You kind of forget anyone else is in the movie because she's so perfect. The script is mediocre, Ed Harris doesn't even try to be McCain, cliche is everywhere--though it's all highly enjoyable, especially since you learn more about an exciting period.

This movie makes Palin a bit more sympathetic, less of a caricature. Like Dish, she had a fourth grade knowledge of foreign policy. That's really sad (and she's not alone in politics). After an initial show of strength, she had a downward spiral and I would have too. It was a ridiculous amount of pressure on someone so completely unqualified for higher office, sort like putting Dish on Wall Street (though I'm eerily close).

So Not into the Golden Globes, Not Sure Why!

I'm watching them anyway... Resentful of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for cruelly stealing Ricky Gervais's spot. Resentful of friends who thought Ricky was over the top. Fighting the tide of change. Missing TG who's visiting family. He loves award shows for some reason, gets perked up by "the biz" in its glory.

Observations so far:

Daniel Day: Awesome for doing the ET thing. I thought he'd be a douche and pretend it was beneath him. Caught a glimpse of my sort-of neighbor Sally!!!
Jennifer Lopez is naked.
Sofia, as always, was robbed.
Why is Julianne Moore becoming more and more awesome as the years go by? Love hair and dress.
Rooted hard for Damien, glad he won for Homeland.
What's happened to Salma Hayek's career?
Daniel Craig needs to powder his face. Adore seeing him with his wife, Rachel (we're on a first-name basis since The Constant Gardener in which she's brilliant)--a golden couple
Adele is awesome. Have to check--Duran Duran never won a GG for View to a Kill, touted as best Bond song ever (at least in my imagination)
Oh, Anjelica Huston...

That is all for now.

Rest in Peace, You Womanizing Oil Baron! (Slap)

The imaginary villain of my childhood, J.R. Ewing, has gone to that palatial estate in the sky. On Dallas, Larry Hagman played the deliciously evil pain in the butt who stayed one step ahead of everyone. Just at the point when Sue Ellen or Bobby might advance, J.R. came from behind and stole everything! How I appreciate his evil now. To pay my respects, here are some choice scenes. The Housewives should take note on how to diss someone:

That awesome theme song
Where Pam slaps JR
Where JR slaps Sue Ellen
Where JR calls Sue Ellen a slut
Where Bobby shows what a goody-goody wuss he is and J.R. makes sign of devil with his eyebrows

The Middle East may have called a truce, but Thanksgiving drama erupted between Halle Berry's fiance Olivier Martinez (the one who got clocked by Richard Gere in Unfaithful and who used to date Kylie Minogue) got into a fight with Berry's baby-daddy Gabriel Aubry and both men wound up in the hospital. I thought this only happened on television...

So, during my flights to and from Florida, I watched Ted and The Five-Year Engagement. Ted has only a few funny jokes and a predictable plot. It's kind of hilarious that a bear could have sex with a woman, though. Maybe Dish had low blood sugar. And, while I'm glad I didn't pay 13$ to see it, The Five-Year Engagement had cute moments and showed true love's complexity. It's hard not to love Emily Blunt and Jason Segel. In this movie, Jason, at least, isn't constantly showing his wang, which I appreciate. Dish prefers her Rom-Coms with clothes. For dramas, thrillers, Apatow or Ferrell comedies, let it all hang out!

I had a vivid dream where Julianne Moore was trying to enlist me in some cause. She was all enthusiastic the way she is in real life. Like you want to join her club. What does she want me to do?  A message from Julianne is always divine.

Happy Birthday to Jon Bon Jovi!

It's hard to believe he's 50! He looks so young. I wonder what his secret is. J.J., do you know? You went to school with him...

Another topic to rile my hair-guru: The Kardashian girls are getting flack for their burrito eating diet pill hawking. Don't you get the feeling the Kardashian sphere is fading? Who will be the next vapid media sensation?

The Bachelor PR machine is playing me like a Gingie marionette. I'm sorry for obsessing but the media called me and said: Hello, Dish? And I was like: Yeah? Then the media said Ben referred to this season's taping as "the worst experience of his life." I was like omygod, like worse than being rejected on TV by the dentist or a parent's death? And the media said, yeah. But the benefit of this Worst Time in His Life is that he will have ample tail forever and ever (so sad a 43 y.o. woman using the term "tail"). They really need to recast/revamp this tired franchise. Turn it around with 5 everyday Joes and maybe give the girls more power. There have been too many douchebags in a row.

You must read the spotlight on Julianne Moore in More magazine. She was one of the first celebs I saw in NYC when I moved here 15 years ago. She was very pregnant, wearing a thick down coat, and running around like a teenager being all chatty cathy at a Chinese restaurant. I'd forgotten she was on As the World Turns so I looked up her cameo back in 2010 when the show was canceled. Moved me to tears: http://whttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifww.youtube.com/watch?v=rCf5giWB2zg.

We're watching Johnny English Reborn with that Mr. Bean guy (TG's choice). It's terrible but TG is laughing. Boys love him. Gillian Anderson is in it. Girls love her.

A Weiner Is Born...

Congratulations to Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin for their latest addition, Jordan Zane Weiner. I'm too sophisticated to put forth alternative baby names for their little tyke (Ima, Don Tuchmie, Ura Bigue). He'll already get a lot of sh*t.

Glam-popster Adam Lambert was arrested for brawling with his boyfriend in Finland. Sounds like Adam has a case of the boozies, which might prove detrimental to his career. I lost interest after American Idol but had great hopes he'd join Queen. Dish will put on her serious hat with this message: Once your lover hits you or Tweets his wang, pack those bags and get out.

Just saw the teaser for Game Change starring Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4YlDkCIoIs. I love Julianne mostly because she's a gingie and I saw her in person and she was this bubbly chatty cathy when she seems all acty on film. It's one dinky line, but she gave me chills. Is Ed Harris even trying? Haven't forgiven him for not crying during Stepmom, yet his performance in Milk Money is unmatched.
